Our 3 day 2 night Chicago Basin Backpacking/Trekking trip is an excellent introduction to wilderness trekking, and a great way to see the incomparable Chicago Basin in a relatively short period of time. Again, we did North Eolus, which is the same trail as Mount Eolus (until you reach the saddle). I'm hoping that we weren't unncessarilly cautious and missed out. The trip from Durango to the Needleton stop is about 2.5 hours (the train is very slow). Hiking from Twin Lakes to the summit of North Eolus took 2 hours, 45 minutes.
